About me

Sarah Shaw Dawson is a born-and-raised Islander with a passion for music and the written word. She performs both solo and with a band of multi-talented musicians at community events, private gigs, and more on Martha’s Vineyard. She’s a full-time beat reporter at The Martha’s Vineyard Times, covering housing, health, and education; her work has been recognized by the New England Newspaper & Press Association. Sarah plays the electric and acoustic guitar and writes her own music. Her style is indie, with a rock flair, and is inspired by her community and her own life story. Sarah’s lyrics are ethereal, hopeful, and deeply rooted in the natural world. While her reporting is grounded in truth and reality, her music holds a wish for a better world and an ode to the softer side of life.
